Understanding Medical Simulation: The Innovative Method for Training Healthcare Professionals

Medical Simulation is an innovative approach to educating healthcare professionals using advanced technology. It offers a safe and practical way for medical practitioners to learn, practice, and evaluate their medical skills in a simulated real-world setting. Medical Simulation involves utilizing life-like manikins, task trainers, and standardized patients (SPs) who act out specific roles to provide learners with a comprehensive understanding of new skills. With the use of SPs, learners receive feedback from unique experiences, enabling them to learn directly from the patient while practicing their language and protocols in a safe and secure training environment.

Understanding DEIA: What Does It Mean?

DEIA is an acronym for diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. This four-part acronym encompasses a holistic approach to creating a safe, fair, respectful, and inclusive community for all members within an organization. While the A in DEIA traditionally stands for accessibility, it is sometimes replaced with B for Belonging. However, access is critical to achieving diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Additionally, the disability community is often excluded from discussions surrounding DEI despite being an integral part of the conversation.
